I guess it pays off to write a wish-list for Christmas. This is the first year in a long time that I wrote a list. It’s actually an “all-year” list, and not just for Christmas. And of course, everything on it was photography related! A few of the things that were on the list, and...
Welcome to my blog!
Welcome to The Photog Formula – a website full of photography goodies!
My name is Nate Lawson and I’m the creator of The Photog Formula. I’m also a die-hard photography nut who likes to push the boundaries of photography to see where it will take me.
I’ve been a hobbyist photographer for 15 years, semi-pro since 2004, when I won my first digital SLR camera in an online contest. That little camera, a Canon Digital Rebel XT, has produced over 30,000 photos in 4 different countries.
I’m also the owner of Nate Lawson Photography, a small business here in my hometown of Sheridan, Wyoming.
The Photog Formula is all about giving you the tools necessary to better yourself as a photographer, both with film and digital cameras. Although many of the tips and tutorials are aimed at the beginner to intermediate photographer, professionals will also be able to sharpen their skills.
With that being said, I’m often asked what I use for equipment. So I’ll share that with you:
* Canon Digital Rebel XT
* Canon 430EX Speedlite External Flash
* 4 Quantaray PZ-1 DSZ Flashes
* Canon EF 24-105mm Lens
* Canon EFS 18-55mm Lens
* Canon 50mm Compact Macro Lens
* Phoenix AF 19-35mm Lens
* ProMaster SystemPro 2N Tripod
* Giottos MH-1000 Ball HeadI also use a Macbook Pro and a Mac G4 with Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 for all of my photo editing.
Feel free to email me at: natelawson@natelawson.com
If you’d like to stay up-to-date with The Photog Formula you can do so by subscribing.
I hope you learn something new, and more importantly, enjoy reading The Photog Formula.

I’ve been doing a lot of research lately about different types of promotions and publicity tactics. I learned a few new things while at NCSL in Washington, D.C. last week and wanted to learn a little more. One of the coolest things I’ve found is 2D barcodes. I’ve seen them before, but never really understood... |
